Yeah that did not work.
So I think what I am going to use this for now is just to write. Short stories, long stories, funny things I saw and feelings that I do not share with most other people. I am mainly doing this because I am pretty sure no one will be reading.
So today is April 13th, 2010. My day has been occupied by going to work, working, listening to music, viewing my Facebook page and thinking about my 20 year re-union. Yes 20 year high school re-union. I have yet to graduate from college so it could not be my 20 year college re-union. That is a topic I will not tackle today. So the fact that event is coming up, it dates me. It also shows how much of a dreamer I am that I thought I could make a living at being a blogger. :)
However to borrow from a good movie where the immortal Mr. Cusack starred.
What would be my top 5 jobs be if I was thinking about this question back in 1990.
1. Electrical Engineer - Like I even know what an electrical engineer would do back then, let alone today.
2. Computer Programmer - Had the brains for it, but was just too lazy to just sit at a computer 24/7 for Microsoft.
3. Comic book artist - But I found out quickly you need to be a talented artist to be one of those. Also you need to be passionate enough to just doodle and draw all the time. I know 2 people that do that and both are not comic book artist, even though they should be. You know who you are. I am watching you.
4. Script writer - Again need some talent for that and passion, I am just too lazy. If only there was a job for a dreamer. I would be the highest paying professional ever.
5. Actor - I had enough trouble reading out loud let alone act well in front of people. I am not only a professional dreamer but I like lying to myself.
So now that I am 20 year wiser and smarter (ok maybe just wiser).
1. Employed
2. Married
3. Be a good Father
4. Be a good Friend
5. Be a good Teacher
Ok so that is not really a job list, but I guess what I am trying to say is that when you are younger sometimes you only feel that your job will be who you are. That if you do not have the right job or right career you are nothing. One thing I have learned is that if you are willing to work you can make a career out of anything. That the career you thought was so important back in High School may not be that important to you now. My dad was married to his job and I hated him for it. No matter what work I am doing now, but son wants to work there with me.
So I guess what I am trying to tell myself, since no one else is reading this, is that if I am happy with the rest of my life I do not have to regret not being where I thought I would have been when I was thinking about in high school.
Ok, I will not leave the cricket hanging, I will let you know what I think would be the 5 best jobs now.
1. Blogger - It would be so cool just to be paid for talking. I talk all the time.
2. Personal Shopper - I think I would be really good at it. People ask me all the time for advice on what to buy with regards to consumer electronics.
3. Baby sitter - I just love kids.
4. Artist - yes I still hold onto the fact that if I could possibly find passion for drawing again that I could be mediocre and make a little bit of money at it.
5. Support Engineer/Field Test Engineer - I really do kinda like my job. I like the people I work with and I like the fact I get to play with a whole lot of gadgets. So I guess what I am doing now is a pretty cool thing.
Until next time, you sicko cricket.
